M. Jean Krahn, MG, is the Executive Director of the Kansas Guardianship
Program (KGP) in Manhattan, Kansas. She has been with the organization
since 1984 serving first as Program Director/Recruiter-Facilitator
before being named Executive Director in 1995.
Under her direction the program was awarded Kansas Bar Association’s
Philip H. Lewis Medal of Distinction.
The KGP on a statewide basis recruits, trains and monitors volunteers
who are appointed to serve as guardians and conservators for program
eligible adults. This program serves more than 1400 wards or
conservatees through the efforts of approximately 830 volunteers.
Prior to joining KGP, Ms. Krahn was Program Coordinator for Kansas
Outreach for Community-Based Education, UFM, and spent five years as
Personnel Director/Voluntary Service for the General Conference
Mennonite Church in Kansas.
Ms. Krahn has been called on to share her expertise in presentations for
the International Conference on Guardianship in Bergen, The Netherlands;
the National Guardianship Association Annual Conferences in Orlando FL,
Tucson AZ, and Colorado Springs, CO; and at state Guardianship
Conferences in Wyoming and Louisiana, as well as with the Texas Senate
Interim Committee on Health and Human Services; Kansas State University;
the National Association of Protection and Advocacy, Washington; the
Kansas Conference on Developmental Disabilities; and the Kansas
Governor’s Conference on Aging.
She serves on the board of directors for a statewide long-term care
citizen advocacy group and the Manhattan Homeless Shelter. She is also a
member of the Guardianship and Conservatorship Advisory Committee of the
Kansas Judicial Council.
Ms. Krahn attended Kansas State University and is certified as a Master
Guardian by the Center for Guardianship Certification.
