Honorable Louis Mineau Louis Mineau is the Circuit Court Commissioner for the Rock County Circuit Court located in Janesville, WI. Circuit court commissioners are similar to associate judges in Illinois and are appointed by the chief judge in our district and serve at the request of the elected circuit court judges. He also serves as the register in probate and probate registrar for Rock County and those roles are administrative positions, appointed by the chief judge from Rock County. Mineau currently is a member in the Wisconsin Family Court Commissioners Association, Wisconsin Association of Judicial Court Commissioners, and Wisconsin Registers in Probate Association. He is a 1978 graduate of the University of Wisconsin Law School and was licensed to practice in Wisconsin in 1978 and in Illinois in 1983. He is also admitted to practice in the federal courts in the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals, the Eastern and Western Districts of Wisconsin, and the Northern District to Illinois. Mineau is a former assistant city attorney (Janesville, Wisconsin) and assistant district attorney (Rock County, Wisconsin). He was in private practice from 1981 to 2003 with primary focus in plaintiff's personal injury litigation and consumer law. He also has served several terms as one of the directors for the Wisconsin Academy of Trial Lawyers. Mineau has been married for 28 years and has two adult
children. He lives in Beloit, Wisconsin.
