Tony Rothert Tony Rothert has been the Legal Director of the American Civil Liberties Union of Eastern Missouri since January 2006. He oversees the legal programs advocacy and litigation efforts on civil liberties issues. He currently serves as the Chairperson of the Illinois Guardianship and Advocacy Commission, having been appointed to the commission in 2008. Prior to joining the ACLU, Rothert spent six years as a staff attorney for the Legal Advocacy Service of the Illinois Guardianship and Advocacy Commission.(LAS). At LAS he primarily represented persons alleged to be subject to involuntary hospitalization or involuntary treatment with psychotropic medication or ECT in the trial and appellate courts. He has also worked as an assistant state’s attorney and for Land of Lincoln Legal Assistance Foundation. Rothert received his Master of Social Work and law
degrees from Saint Louis University. Her serves on several boards and
committees, including the board of the Illinois Guardianship Association
and on the standing committees of the Illinois State Bar Association on
mental health law and disability law. |
