Registered Guardian Certification Exams and Review Courses

The Registered Guardian Certification Exams are administered and conducted by the Center for Guardianship Certification. The Review Courses for the exams, along with study guides and tapes, are offered by the National Guardianship Association. Because the exams and courses are run by different organizations, registration for the exams and courses is a two-step process and payment must be made separately to each organization.

The examination and certification have been developed to measure your understanding of guardianship practices in the context of the National Guardianship Association’s Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics. The NGA Review Course to Prepare for the Registered Guardian Exam

The National Guardianship Association (NGA) offers several opportunities to prepare for the examination!

• To prepare for the RG exam, order the NGA study guide and/or a 2-hour audio study review available in tape or CD format.

• An in-person review course is also offered by NGA. The review course highlights the NGA Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice - the core information guardians need to know to provide quality service and to pass the test. Check the Schedule of Registered Guardian Courses for dates. The cost of the four-hour review course includes the NGA Study Guide.

• The NGA Review Course is also conducted on occasion in Florida, California and Texas where they have state specific certification exams. Registration for the Review Course in these states includes a study guide specific to that state in addition to the national study guide. The state specific study materials are also available for purchase without attending a Review Course using the NGA order form.

To register for a scheduled Review Course use the Registration Form to sign up and order your study materials. You will also need to register separately for the exam through the Center for Guardianship Certification.
